About

My Story

I’ve always believed that stories can shape the world — not just entertain, but create understanding, shift narratives and spark action. That belief led me into filmmaking, and over the years, it’s become my mission to use media to support organisations doing meaningful work.

I started out making content in East London, documenting youth projects and local initiatives. That work quickly grew, leading me to direct and produce campaigns and documentaries for clients like the Mayor of London, Westfield, and the London College of Fashion. I’ve worked across the UK, India, and Zambia, capturing stories that connect people and build impact.

I now run Aran Knowles Media, my content production organisation focused on helping social impact organisations communicate powerfully, reach audiences, and deliver on their goals — whether that’s raising funding, shifting policy, or strengthening community engagement.

This work isn’t just creative for me — it’s strategic, grounded, and purpose-driven. It’s about building trust through quality, clarity, and results.

My Approach

I believe that content should do more than just look good. It should mean something. It should achieve something.

At the heart of my approach is one simple truth: organisations don’t want content for the sake of content. They want what the content makes possible and enables: Funding. Engagement. Trust. Influence.

That’s why I focus not just on pretty visuals or polished edits, but on what your content is for — what outcome it needs to deliver, and how it needs to make your audience feel in order to achieve it.

I call it delivering on the outcome.

That starts with listening. Before we even begin production, I first understand your purpose, your audience and your goals, discovering things such as, ‘What does success look like for you? What action do you need people to take? What perception are you trying to shift?’ That clarity shapes everything that follows.

Then comes design. But not just in the visual sense. I mean the design of communication. Because content is a form of communication, and communication is the engine of progress, I design media to move people — emotionally, intellectually and behaviourally. Whether that’s building trust with a community, winning buy-in from stakeholders or capturing the attention of policy-makers, I align the tone, style, and structure of your content to the result you need.

Finally, then comes delivery. I work fast, efficiently and collaboratively to make your vision a reality, adapting as needed, but always holding the line on quality and purpose. I shoot and edit with intention, using sound, pace, structure and storytelling to elevate your message and make it land where it matters.

This is my three-step method:

1. Listen to the Outcome: Understand what success means for you. Your vision. Your metrics. Your audience. I ask the right questions to get to the heart of your brief.

2. Design for the Audience: Craft communication that’s emotionally intelligent, purpose-driven and rooted in what your audience needs to see, hear and feel.

3. Deliver the Impact: Execute content that gets results, through story, structure, visuals and sound that work in harmony to move people and meet your goals.

This approach is about thoughtful, strategic, purpose-led content that builds relationships, tells truth and gets you where you want to go. Whether you're trying to inspire action, prove value or showcase transformation, I help you create media that works powerfully, persuasively and professionally.

Experience

I’ve directed and delivered content for major brands and institutions including Westfield, London College of Fashion and Catalyst in Communities, producing work that spans promotional films, branded documentaries event coverage and strategic visual campaigns.

One of my most defining projects was It Takes a Village, a feature-length documentary exploring the global state of youth work and the power of community in raising young people. I directed and edited the film, leading a team of young creatives in the production of the film. The project didn’t just tell a story: it created space for audiences to reflect on the structures that support youth, and the values that drive real change.

Earlier in my career, I project-managed YouMeUs.TV, one of London’s largest youth digital content programmes, where I trained and mentored dozens of aspiring creators, many of whom have gone on to professional careers.

Clients often tell me I’m easy to work with, efficient, professional, and I deliver excellent quality with clear communication. What sets me apart is a calm, assured presence and a focused eye for detail. I bring creative direction, storytelling clarity and production discipline to every job.
